Father runs over toddler with pickup

Posted August 24, 2009

— A 2-year-old Robeson County boy was killed late Friday when his father hit him with a pickup truck, authorities said.

Cristian Fuentes was in the path of the truck driven by Sabino Fuentes, 32, outside the family's home as 466 Usher Road in Rex, according to the Highway Patrol. It was unclear if the truck was moving forward or backing up at the time.

The parents rushed the boy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation.

So sad. Im so sorry that not only does this family have to deal with the loss of their precious little baby but the fact that they ran over him has to be more than they can bare. Prayers are with this family!

rb, I am open to suggestions. For the life if me I don't know why we don't protect our children.... Example: The child killed this week by the 83 year old lady. Why not cross the street where the bus stop is, gather up your child and protect them as they cross back with you? It's just that easy! I have read dozens of note this week not one person has suggested going across the street to get their own child.......... Know why? There are to busy to be at the bus stop?

    Awww, praying for them.

Why people allow their young children to run around outside unsupervised, especially when they're going to be moving a vehicle or are cutting the grass, is beyond me.

When I was young, a neighborhood child was killed when a lawnmower her father was operating threw a rock that pierced her skull. Yet you see people cutting the grass with their wee ones running in front of, alongside of or behind them with their little toy lawnmowers. Duh!!!

    God bless.
