Father of victim in deadly hit-and-run questions charges for driver

Kennon Boyd watched his daughter, a mother of two, die in the hospital six days after the July 10 crash.

"It was the hardest thing I have ever done, to lose a child and there are no words," said Kennon Boyd.

Two weeks later, Boyd uses words like anger and hurt to describe life without his daughter.

"My job, as a father, is to protect my children. I feel like I failed. I failed her and that is the most painful thing of all," added Boyd.

LeRon Arron is a husband and father. He and his family were sleeping when he heard a loud noise outside his Ferguson home.

Aaron soon discovered the noise was from a car hitting Keona Boyd as she pushed her stalled car along Bermuda Avenue.

"I saw her in the middle of the street. Her friends and family were around her. I called the police. They came. She was telling everyone goodbye," said Aaron.

"I still wake up thinking I can call her to talk to her. The only thing I have left now are the pictures," added Boyd.

The 21-year-old mother of two was Boyd's first-born. She remains his baby.

"The smile. She was always happy. She always brought joy to anyone she was around," added Boyd.

Boyd can't figure out why the person charged with leaving the scene of an accident doesn't have a more severe charge.

"I don't want anything bad to happen to anyone. I just want people to be held accountable for their actions," added Boyd.

"It's not right. The fact he knew he hit someone and injured them. He saw them lying in the street. He got in his car and left after he saw them. There is no excuse for that," added Aaron.

The prosecuting attorney told News 4 once an investigation is complete, the case will go to a grand jury to determine additional charges related to Boyd's death.
