ST. LOUIS, MO — News 4 talked with the father of a 10-year-old boy who was shot and killed Sunday. The teen who shot him, his own brother, is in juvenile detention.

Anthony Turner, Sr.'s emotion is real and very raw. He lost his son Anthony Turner, Jr. to what he can only understand as an accident. He wanted to celebrate Anthony, Jr. and warn other parents to protect their children.

"God put him in this situation. I don't know. I can't explain why. I can't seem to wrap my fingers around it. But, God loaned me my son for 10 years," said Turner, Sr.

Turner, Sr.'s world is flipped upside down. His son was shot and killed in a home just south of downtown.

"No matter how I look at it. No matter how anyone looks at it. This was an accident. It happened from his brother. This is what happened," said Turner, Sr.

Investigators determined the boy's brother accidentally shot him.

"Anthony was special. He was just Anthony. I want every to know he did not have any hatred in his heart body," added Turner, Sr.

The brother is in a juvenile detention center. Their mother was taken in, but not arrested.

"I've been trying to not cry a lot, but my mom and aunt said it's okay to cry," said Jada Smith.

Smith is the 10-year old's sister and does not believe her brother was playing with a gun.

"He doesn't talk about guns. He doesn't play with them. No, that is what I said when I found out. They said he accidentally shot himself. I said no," added Smith.

As investigators continue asking questions, the eldest Turner offers a warning to gun owners.

"No matter where you put it, you can put it anywhere, a child is going to be a child. You know? A child is going...lock it up," said Turner, Sr.
