RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities were searching Saturday for a man and his 8-year-old child, Wake County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said.

The child, whose name was not released, was reported missing on July 8.

The child's mother told authorities that Devan John Mosley-Savoy, the child's father, was supposed to return the child to her but never did, Stephens said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Mosley-Savoy and a woman, Wonza Dillard Singleton. They are believed to be traveling in Singleton's GMC Yukon. Her relationship to Mosley-Savoy and the child was not released.

They might be headed to Virginia, Stephens said.

An Amber Alert was not issued because the child is not believed to be in danger. No other information was released.

Mosley-Savoy has 15 convictions, including attempted armed robbery, violation of a protective order, assault on a female and common-law robbery, according to state Division of Adult Correction records. He has served two jail terms totaling four years, most recently for a probation violation in 2011.
