MAKAHA, HI — A father and his 2-year-old daughter were rescued at 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday right off of Makaha Beach.
Honolulu Ocean Safety Junior Lifeguard instructors were in the middle of setting up for their summer program, when they heard yelling coming from the father.
The lifeguards swam approximately 300 yards and brought the father and daughter to shore safely.
The family is said to be visiting Hawaii from New Zealand.
No injuries were reported and there was no need of any emergency medical services.
The lifeguards stated that the waters were flat and calm at the time of the rescue.
Ocean Safety reminds all beachgoers to swim at lifeguarded beaches, stay near shorelines and know your limits before entering Hawaiian waters.
