Farmers' market season is on the way

The weather is slowly becoming warmer, and many local farmers' markets are getting ready to open or start summer season hours.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The weather is slowly becoming warmer, and many local farmers' markets are getting ready to open or start summer season hours. 
Here are a few of the main farmers' markets opening or extending hours soon. Out & About has the full list and more details.

Opening in April: 

Apex Farmers' Market (Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.) – Celebrate opening day with live music on April 5. In addition to the regular vendors and farmers at the market, they also have a rotating schedule for food trucks.
Cary Downtown Farmers' Market (Saturdays 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tuesdays 2-6 p.m.) – Following an opening day ceremony, there will be live music and face painting for the kids. 
Downtown Raleigh Farmers' Market (Wednesdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.) – A small but popular market in City Plaza. The season will kick off April 30 with a pig pickin'. 
Midtown Farmers' Market (Saturdays 8 a.m.-12 p.m.) – A local market selling locally produced breads, desserts, vegetables, produce, nuts, dairy, meats, crafts, and more. 

Open year-round: 

Carrboro Farmers' Market (Wednesdays 3:30-6:30 p.m., Saturdays 7 a.m.-12 p.m.) – The Saturday market switches to regular growing season hours on April 5. They will have food samples from Il Palio restaurant. On April 9, the Wednesday market opens and they will have samples from Vimala's Curryblosom Cafe and a food truck rodeo.
Chapel Hill Farmers' Market (Saturdays 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Tuesdays 3-6 p.m.) – Extended hours begin Saturday, March 29, and Tuesday, April 15. Head over on opening day for a cooking demonstration and live music.
Durham Farmers' Market (Saturdays 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Wednesdays 3:30-6 p.m.) – Extended hours begin Saturday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 16. The market has 71 vendors, all of which operate within 70 miles of the market.
Western Wake Farmers' Market (Saturdays 8 a.m.-12 p.m.) – Opening day on April 5 will have recipes and samples, chef demonstrations and music.
