Fans are making a Voldemort live-action prequel film and they got Warner Bros. approval

Lord Voldemort has an origin story.
Two Harry Potter fans Gianmaria Pezzato and Stefano Prestia started a Kickstarter not longer ago to raise funds for “Voldemort: Origins of the Heir,” an unofficial prequel film to the Harry Potter series that tells Voldemort’s origin story.
And it’s totally legit. According to Polygon, Warner Bros. contacted the filmmakers to discuss the project.
“We had a private and confidential discussion with Warner Bros who contacted us during the period of the crowdfunding campaign," Pezzato said. "The only thing we can say is that they let us proceed with the film, in a nonprofit way, obviously.”
The filmmakers released a trailer this week, which you can watch here.
As Uproxx reported, the prequel film won’t be part of the Harry Potter canon. It will draw inspiration from the books, though.
“We wondered, ‘What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back?’” Pezzato told Uproxx. “There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: The rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise.”
