Family: Victim in Raleigh home invasion has serious injuries

Meanwhile, Shabar Master Marshall, 16, one of the two brothers arrested in the case, appeared before a District Court judge to face charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, attempted murder and first-degree forcible sex offense.

He was in the Wake County jail Tuesday evening under a $5 million bond.

The other brother, Jahaad Tariem Allah Marshall, 26, is expected to appear in court Wednesday. He was released Tuesday from a local hospital, where he was being treated for injuries he suffered in a high-speed chase following the shooting.

He is also being held under a $5 million bond on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, attempted murder, attempted first-degree rape and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to a 911 call, the female victim called for help sometime after 3 a.m., reporting that she and her husband awoke to the men standing over their bed. They demanded money, she said, then sexually assaulted her before she was able to get away to get help.

As she ran, she said, she heard gunshots.

According to South Carolina court records, Jahaad Marshall has a criminal history that includes armed robbery and arson charges, dating back to 2003.

In one case, in September 2008, he was accused of holding a couple in Florence County, S.C., at gunpoint morning and stealing their cellphone, credit cards, money and car.

He was last released from prison there in 2010 and was on probation in North Carolina, according to North Carolina court records.

According to his Facebook page, he is originally from Brooklyn. He talks about dealing with people with "respect and peace" and serving "justice."

Court records show Shabar Marshall as having a Cary address, and his Facebook page says that he attended Garner High School.
