JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A man and a woman were arrested Thursday and charged in connection with a Johnston County double murder on Mar. 10., according to the sheriff's office.

Gerald Thomas Paul Jr., of 402 N.12th Street in Erwin, was charged with murder in the deaths of Matthew Scott Jones, 30, and Jessica May Pyatte, 24.

According to police, Jones and Pyatte were found with fatal gunshot wounds inside a home at 112 Unity Drive in Newton Grove.

Jones’ two-year-old son was also found inside the home but was unharmed, authorities said. Family members said the toddler had blood on him, apparently from his father.

Tara Nicole Wilson, of 309 S. Orange Ave. in Dunn, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Paul was already being held at the Harnett County Jail at the time of his arrest on a possession of methamphetamine charge, according to authorities.
