Family, friends worry for woman missing from Weldon

Posted August 20, 2013

— Family and friends are sharing details about a woman last seen in Weldon in June, worried that she hasn't been heard from in almost two months.

Amy Wells Bridgeman, 42, is a white woman with black or brown hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds and was last seen wearing a white shirt with black stripes and white capri pants.

The lead investigator on the case said it wasn't clear whether Bridgeman might be in danger, but worried friends are pushing her case on Facebook, where two pages have garnered hundreds of followers.

Anyone with information about Bridgeman's whereabouts is asked to call the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office 252-583-8201 or Halifax County Crime Stoppers at 252-583-4444.

Thanks everyone 4 the positive comments! If nothing nice 2 say u just shouldn't comment at all! I am a very close personal friend also admin on 2 pages "Missing Amy Bridgeman Wells', & "Help Find Amy Wells Bridgeman" I know 4 a fact I had emailed WRAL repeatedly about covering Amy's story. LE goes by evidence I go by my gut feelings. Amy had no license she left a friends house on foot walking telling them she would be back. What happened from there is a mystery but it is a FACT she is missing & she has a husband, children, & parents that she has not been in contact with for 8weeks, 3days, & 7 hrs....if she is not in danger please define that 2 me!

Praying she is safe and will contact loved ones quickly.

"The lead investigator on the case said it wasn't clear whether Bridgeman might be in danger..."

That shouldn't be too hard to determine. Has she been to her home or job (if not unemployed) since June?

From what I understand family and friends have been trying to get it on the news channels and are just getting responses. Not sure but that is my understanding from friends of hers.

The family and Amy's have been emailing news organizations to get the story out and this is the first time it's been picked up other than their local news paper and crime stoppers. It has taken them eight weeks of emails and calls. WITN replied that the Sheriff's Office or Police Department would have to contact and ask them for their help before they would run a story on it. That was their reply to me this morning.
