Family and friends remember fallen Siler City firefighter
A Siler City firefighter who was killed while responding to a cardiac arrest call on Tuesday was honored Friday afternoon at First Missionary Baptist Church.
Posted — UpdatedFirefighters at Station 9 joined Woods' family and friends at his viewing to say their final goodbyes to a man who grew up in the community and was close to many in the department.
"We had the same name, so they called us 'Josh squared,'" said Josh Clegg. "Me and him were both alike. We like to have fun and cut up and pick and play, and that's how we got along best."
Woods' fellow firefighters said they will miss his playful spirit and willingness to help anyone.
"He was very energized," Clifton Brooks said. "Every time he came around you'd know he was there."
Brooks said he and and his colleagues knew if Woods had to go, he would have wanted to go rushing to the aid of someone in need.
"It could have been any of us," said Capt. Daniel Murphy. "That's probably the hardest thing. We all do the same thing."
