Families scramble after popular indoor playground closes
Families are scrambling to make new plans for their children's birthday parties after PlayNation of Morrisville abruptly closed its doors.
Posted — UpdatedThe business on Dominion Drive mixed inflatables with wooden play structures, which they also sold. It was a popular destination for parties, other gatherings and drop-in play for little ones. It opened in November 2009.
Go Ask Mom readers tell me they had no warning that parties scheduled as soon as this week and weekend would be canceled. One reader tells me that one group stood outside of the business on Thursday morning for a scheduled party, only to find it shuttered. The business' Facebook page went down Wednesday evening, she tells me, and the website was no longer allowing customers to book parties.
Some readers with scheduled parties did receive an email Thursday afternoon that said only that the business was closed. The email, however, didn't mention why it was closing or whether they'd be getting their $100 deposits back. An email and voicemail to the business have gone unreturned.
"We are sorry to inform all of our customers due to unforeseen circumstances Playnation of Morrisville has closed. Thanks!," it reads.
"My daughter's party was supposed to be there Sunday, but we didn't receive an email," wrote one mom on Go Ask Mom's Facebook page. "Thankful for the warm weather this weekend - we'll be outside instead!"
Also, Pump It Up in Raleigh has party times open at 4:05 p.m. and 8:10 p.m., Saturday, and 9:05 a.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday.
