Kenly, N.C. — A fallen tree caused a backup late Friday night on Interstate 95 near Kenly after several vehicles crashed into it.
The tree fell across the southbound lanes of the highway, officials said. Several vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, ran into the down tree.
As the fire department worked to clean up the tree, three or four more vehicles collided at the same spot in another accident, officials said. I-95 was shut down, and traffic was rerouted.
Two minor injuries were reported, and the highway was closed for about an hour.
