— A man who impersonated a physician at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville is in prison in Tennessee after police there arrested him on a parole violation, authorities said Friday.

Daniel Ray Stewart, 24, pleaded guilty in November to misdemeanor charges of practicing medicine without a license and was placed on probation for a year, including electronic monitoring by the North Carolina Department of Correction.

Probation documents show Stewart told a Fayetteville taxi service on Thanksgiving Day that he was a doctor and needed a patient to be taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. The taxi operator became suspicious and didn't make the trip.

DOC officials said they believe Stewart then broke off his electronic ankle bracelet and fled North Carolina.

Stewart was arrested in Nashville on Dec. 3. Tennessee authorities revoked his parole from an earlier conviction in that state.

This guy even looks strange about the eyes. And why would anyone believe that a 24 year old is a doctor anyway. It takes longer then that to just get through medical school. Everyone should have questioned this man from the very beginning. And how many doctors you know can't afford a car and must use a taxi for transportation? Let alone take a patient; what's wrong with the ambulance service?

I'm shaking my head over his being charged with a misdemeanor for pretending to be a doctor....what's wrong with this picture? This should definitely be a felony. Talk about needing to be evaluated, he surely does.
