GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro firefighter was let go from his job Thursday after being accused of rape, according to police.

Police said that a 55-year-old woman filed a report of a sexual assault Thursday.

Donnell Devise Hamilton Sr., 48, of 1711 Rose St., was arrested on one count of second-degree rape.

Hamilton's position with the Goldsboro Fire Department was then terminated, police said. He had been employed by the department for 15 years.

He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.

Court records show that Hamilton was charged with soliciting a prostitute in 2004. He pleaded not guilty, was granted a prayer for judgment and was ordered to pay $100 in court costs.
