GREENSBORO, N.C. — A former Durham County deputy was sentenced Wednesday to 21 months in federal prison in a cocaine trafficking case.

Local and federal authorities raided La Zona Club on North Roxboro Street in October 2006, and investigators said it served as a hub for drug dealing and other crimes.

Deputy Michael Owens, who owned the club, was fired shortly after the raid.

Investigators said Owens helped his accomplices rob houses in Durham by using a laptop in his patrol car to look up addresses.

After his prison term, he will have to serve three years on supervised release.
