— A former teacher's assistant at East Cary Middle School was arrested on Wednesday on charges that he took indecent liberties with a child.

Mark Jay Fox, 62, of 101 Marshburg Lane, is accused of inappropriately touching a juvenile in a residential setting on Jan. 7, Cary Police Capt. Michael Williams said.

The alleged victim is a girl under age 16 who has no connection to East Cary Middle, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Fox was suspended with pay before he resigned Wednesday evening, Wake County schools spokesman Michael Evans said. He was hired in fall 2009 as a teacher's assistant at East Cary Middle.

This is happening all over the country. Go to www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal page. They also have a map of where the incidents have taken place. Already this year they have found over a dozen of these incidents. In 2010 they found over 400 of these kinds of cases.

Well actually, while they are investigating, they don't know if he is guilty or innocent. Keeping him away from the setting while they investigate gives them the opportunity to do their work and he not be involved in it. I don't think I would want to be fired - therefore affecting my livelihood - and then found to be innocent. Innocent to PROVEN guilty is what I thought we lived by.

They have to investigate so that is why they suspended him with pay. There was a similar case last year where I live where two teenagers accused a teacher of indecent liberties only to find out at the beginning of this year they were lying because they didn't like the teacher. However, with that being said if the counts are true I hope he gets what he deserves. Most children are not going to lie so I hope he gets fired really soon.

That's right simmian, guilty (and penalized) until proven innocent. Don't you know that's how our "justice" system works?

suspended with pay!? that is sooo funny. If they think you are guilty enough to be suspended then you shouldnt be still getting paid. This is the most ridiculous country Ive ever seen!!!
