Raleigh, N.C. — Two big concerts and a fitness event could create headaches for Raleigh drivers Friday evening.
Residents of the east side of the city are familiar with the delays created when a big concert comes to Walnut Creek Amphitheatre off Rock Quarry Road. WRAL On-Time Traffic
On Friday, country singer Jason Aldean is the headline act. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., but concert-goers love to tailgate at Walnut Creek and will try to arrive early. Expect backups in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 south of downtown as concert-goers and commuters combine.
The other big concert is Taylor Swift at PNC Arena. Her show starts at 7, an hour before the starting gun of the Electric Run at the nearby State Fairgrounds. Organizers said 10,000 runners had registered for to run the LED-lit 5K course.
If you are headed to either event, you'll want to leave plenty of time and pack your patience. If you are not, you'd be better to avoid that area.
