Events let kids help out on MLK Day

Posted January 18, 2015

Nonperishables are stacked on shelves at Rolesville High School for its Backpack Buddies program. Hungry teens can get a backpack full of food with no questions asked.

A quick reminder that we have a lot of activities in the region that give kids an opportunity to help out in the community on Monday, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Book Harvest will hold a community book drive in Durham. Multiple groups will be accepting donations and offering kid-friendly activities at Northgate Mall. At Marbles, kids can help pack food for Backpack Buddies or make blankets for Project Linus. And there are other opportunities.

I wrote a post last week with details about all of the opportunities.
