Event Planned in Honor of Fallen Raleigh Police Officer

Posted July 13, 2007

— Runners and walkers will hit the pavement over the weekend in honor of a Raleigh police officer killed in the line of duty.

Detective Paul Hale was shot in a parking lot on Lenoir Street 10 years ago while questioning a murder suspect.

Hale was an avid runner, so his daughters organized a 5k run\walk in his memory. The run begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Bedford at Falls River Recreation Center in Raleigh.

Proceeds from the run will raise money for The 200 Club of Wake County -- an organization that provides financial assistance to the families of fallen law officers and emergency workers.

I remember it well. My thoughts and prayers are with Paul's family and with Pat and all of the RPD guys who were involved. I know this has to be a difficult time for you as well.

I too would like to thank RPD for all they do. God bless you all.

I knew Paul personally and it's hard to believe it has been ten years. It's good to know the girls are doing well. Good luck with the run. Best wishes to all the RPD family.
