Police thought Fantasia overdose a suicide try

Posted August 11, 2010

— Police say they believed they were responding to a suicide attempt after “American Idol” winner Fantasia overdosed on a bottle of aspirin at her Charlotte, N.C., home.

A police report released Wednesday says Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers believed Fantasia may have suffered internal injuries Monday night from an overdose. The report didn’t indicate why they thought that.

On a recording released by police of the 911 call, a man tells a dispatcher the victim took the aspirin.

The singer’s manager, Brian Dickens, said Wednesday the overdose was not a suicide attempt but didn’t elaborate. Dickens said Fantasia was still hospitalized Wednesday but was stable.

Barrino was recently accused of having an affair and making a sex tape with a married man, according to WCNC-TV. She was named in a lawsuit between the man and his wife.

“She was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and media attention,” Dickens said in a statement on Tuesday.

He added that Barrino was also dehydrated and exhausted.

She never was good enough to the American Idol. She got it because of her struggles, and excuse me...it's a TALENT competiton, not a politically correct popularity show.Or, just maybe it is.

All the mess that someone goes through to obtain the amount of success that she has, and she wants to end it all over some man? Before these women go out and get ANOTHER man, why don't they work on themselves and their life first before hookin' up with some low-life that wants to cheat on his vindictive wife...it's gonna come out sooner or later...Karma!

JAT obviously you care about her......you made a comment.

She ought to have thought about that before she hooked up with him. If he'd leave his 4 kids and wife, what would make him be good 'baby daddy' material for her kid.

And who cares about Fantasia or what she took or what she did? She's the least newsworthy person.

Some women are just plain stupid. If he can do it FOR you, he will do it TO you.

dangyankee... why stop there??? i'd go for criminal conversation too. Criminal conversation is something like a “strict liability tort” because the only things the plaintiff has to prove are (1) an act of intercourse and (2) the existence of a valid marriage between the plaintiff and the adulterous spouse, and (3) the bringing of the lawsuit within the applicable statute of limitations. and with alienation claim, the plaintiff has to show that (1) the marriage entailed love between the spouses in some degree; (2) the spousal love was alienated and destroyed; and (3) defendant’s malicious conduct contributed to or caused the loss of affection. It is not necessary to show that the defendant set out to destroy the marital relationship, but only that he or she intentionally engaged in acts which would foreseeably impact on the marriage... it's best to just leave these married men/women alone... Infidelity is not the best way to start a relationship any way.

Again another parent that is not thinking what is best for her child and only being selfish if this was suicide attempt. I would rather be a good mom and be normal than live the Hollywood life because it is not worth the headache.

She's *so* "G"! She'll be lucky if the woman doesn't sue her and her husband for alienation of affection. NC's one of the few states that still allow that, and some woman recently won a good-sized settlement.
