More people went to the North Carolina State Fair in 2009 than in any other year, officials announced Monday.

Spokesman Brian Long said that 104,370 people visited on the final day of the fair Sunday, bringing the total attendance to 877,941.

That broke the record of 858,611 set in 2007.

This year's State Fair also set five single-day attendance records: for Tuesday, the first and second Thursdays, and the last Sunday.

The fair enjoyed a stretch of sunny, warm weather in the middle of last week, but also struggled with cooler and rainy weather on both weekends.

I loved the fair this year!! Of course my favorite part was the food and little piggies. Speaking of piggies where was the rumored chocalote covered bacon??? I searched and could not find it!

I went to the fair..twice this year. I had a wonderful time both times. I'm glad that folks got out and celebrated this thing we call life. Some people will complain about everything...

"Lets not forget about the infux of Yankee's."

Yankee's what? What are the Yankees bringing? The apostrophe is showing posession, but you've fogotten to finish your sentence.

Gosh Patriot, no love for the folks who actually run the fair? You know, the Republican led Department of Agriculture? It's odd how you took an opportunity to laud the Republicans and turned it into a morass of ill conceived and unfunny sarcasm. Good job.

This was the biggest and best fair ever...anywhere. I love Bev Perdue. It was the record breaker of all time. I love Barack Obama. So much to see...so much to do. I Love Nancy Pelosi. The NC State Government did an excellent job. I actually still love Mike Easley and Jim Black.
