CARY, N.C. — Do you need a chocolate fix but don’t want to cheat on your diet? WRAL Reporter Kim Dean found a way to indulge without gaining a pound.

Customers at the Iatria Day Spa in Cary can be lathered in chocolate.

“This looks good enough to eat, but it’s a facial treatment?” Dean asked.

“We do incorporate a raspberry yogurt, so it's very smooth and very hydrating for the skin,” said Stacy Hayes with Iatria Spa.

Besides yogurt, dark chocolate is also in the mix. Chocolate has proven benefits as an anti-oxidant, but it can also firm and repair skin, Hayes said.

The spa also features a body scrub infused with chocolate oil and a hydrating chocolate body polish.

The decadent treatments are also gaining popularity at Skin Sense in Brier Creek. There, the sweet stuff is applied under the warmth of heat lamps.

“It's a very decadent treatment. It's very elegant,” said Anna Padgett, with Skin Sense. “One of the things chocolate does is release endorphins, which bring about well-being.”

For those who haven’t gotten their fill, some spas also offer a pumpkin treatment at Halloween time.

Tuesday, on WRAL’s Morning News at 6, Dean looks at home staging. It's a new trend for people trying to sell their homes or people looking to make their homes more comfortable to live in themselves.
