NC State Fair - Rides
I haven't ridden a ride at the Fair in a very long time unless you count the Ferris wheel experience five years ago where I took pictures and was terrified of dropping my camera the entire time. (At that time the Ferris wheel was up where Kiddieland is now, so you could get some great pictures of Dorton Arena from up high.) But I finally found a ride I wanted to go on. Except it wasn't really a ride.
The North Carolina State Fair can be enjoyed at any age, but it's something really special when viewed through the eyes of a child.
Started in 1853 as a showcase for North Carolina agriculture, arts and crafts, the fair has also become a yearly destination for hundreds of thousands of people looking to play games and enjoy eyebrow-raising food, like deep-fried brownies and chicken pot pies.
People indulged in deep fried food and fun at the N.C. State Fair on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010.

Although the spectacles offered by the State Fair have changed over the past 156, the annual event offers one certainty: This year's fair is unique.
