Halloween Haunts and Happenings
Halloween, a holiday celebrated on the night of Oct.31, originated as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Great Britain and Ireland. Immigrants carried the tradition to America in the 19th century.
The term Halloween is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the evening of/before "All Hallows' Day". It was a day of festivities in Pagan traditions.
Traditional Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, costume parties, watching horror flicks, and touring haunted houses.
