Our mission is to be the most innovative and accessible online wine retailer. We provide our customers with a diverse selection of wines while building trust and loyalty by helping them determine their own sense of quality and taste. We work to cultivate a better appreciation of wine through educational events, personal interaction, community involvement and social networking.
The First Sip
Phillip and Philip developed their thirst for great wine while in college when they would save up their money for weeks at a time just to try that one bottle of special wine. Little did they know that their desire to learn what ‘special’ really meant would present opportunities to explore the vast world of wine while still in college–through winery internships and study abroad. These baby steps fueled by curiosity prepared them for the more rigorous wine training they would receive post-graduation and helped shape their vision on how to explain and teach wine to others.
In early 2011, they set out to create an unique wine retail operation: TheWineFeed.com. The goal was to be efficient, interesting, and helpful as people explored wine; leaving intimidation behind. Since opening, Phillip and Philip have successfully created an open environment for consumers to learn about and purchase wine that features everything from wine classes and interactive tasting events to wine of the month clubs. Their willingness to answer questions and lend a hand within the community has also led to relationships with businesses ranging from artisanal food producers to professional sports teams.
The future is bright for The Wine Feed as they continue bringing high-quality wines to people through an open wine culture. To learn more about how The Wine Feed Team is changing wine retail, please read more on the Our Team page.
Our Philosophy: The Way We Think About What You Drink
Our philosophy is simple. Like many consumers, we too have been overwhelmed by the vast number of wines available at specialty shops and grocery stores. When you break it down into simple math, it’s actually a bit scary. If you purchase a different wine every day from a store with 3500 different options, it will take you 10 years to go through all of the wines! Is that the really the best way to figure out what you like and gain confidence as a wine buyer? We didn’t think so and decided to do something about it.
Our model focuses on wine styles above all else–and is an effective way for people to learn about and purchase wine. This brings up an interesting question: if you like a certain style of wine do things like brand name, country of origin, vintage and even grape variety really matter? The truth is wonderful wines of the same style can come from infinite combinations of the variables above. While they are certainly important to think about, they are often over-utilized without justification by wine retailers and the press. Our diverse selection will please even the most discriminating palates and is easily searchable by style so you can’t choose a wine that is outside of your comfort zone. Furthermore, all of the products we carry go through a rigorous quality review so you can rest assured that everything we carry is a balanced and well-made wine.
The Wine Feed combines the speed and reach of an online retailer with the personal feel of a local wine shop. We strive to recreate the social aspect of wine that is lost in other online wine stores through numerous events that allow wine lovers to interact with winemakers, The Wine Feed and each other. With us, you’ll never have to worry about asking questions because we do all the time. Our wine tasting notes are light and informative–written to help you determine your own taste. And finally, the piggy bank will emerge unscathed as our carry wines are accessible to everyone.
Thanks for visiting and we look forward to exploring wine with you!
