Impact the world! Make a difference! Give us your…money? Cue in screeching brakes. We can all agree that money is necessary to make this world go round, but is it really the only way to impact and make a difference? Absolutely not! What if there was a creative and progressive way to give to the less fortunate? A way in which you could help people help themselves? Solution: fair trade.
Remember this saying? "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat forever." The same concept is applied through the fair trade approach, and Beleza is taking it a step further. As a fair trade boutique, Beleza is committed to not only creating opportunities for people in developing countries to make a living on their own, but sustaining and maintaining that way of life.
So what's the ultimate way you can impact and make a difference? Help Beleza help people help themselves. One of Beleza's owners, Sara, puts it like this, “Most people look at what we sell as handcrafts, but the fact is that the products are these artisans’ livelihood and ultimately provide the basic needs for themselves and their children.”
Experience a new appreciation for unique and diverse hand-crafted accessories like silver plated zinc from Turkey (pictured), lambas from Madagascar, brushed aluminum jewelry and scarves from seven different countries around the world.
Beleza is a seven-year progressive and evolving creation of Philip Dail and his wife, Sara. What started out as a project to support a village of women in Soatanana, Madagascar through selling handmade shawls is now an ever-growing global outreach striving to build a world on fair trade principles.
