Ticket Info: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2712776 The Triangle Brass Band, under the direction of Artistic Director Tony Granados, presents "Holiday Stories" on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Meymandi Concert Hall in the Duke Energy Center, 2 East South Street, in downtown Raleigh.
The program features a selection of popular holiday music, including "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", Holst's "Christmas Day" and Georges Bizet's popular "Farandole," based on "March of the Kings." Former WCPE announcer, Tara Lynn, narrates the classic Christmas Story "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," as scored by Anthony DiLorenzo. The ensemble also presents the delightful "Walking in the Air" theme from the classic animated story, "The Snowman."
Featured soloist for this concert is Ryan Sharp, currently Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of Central Oklahoma, Principal Trumpet with the Edmond Chamber Orchestra and Soprano Cornetist with the award-winning Fountain City Brass Band. Mr. Sharp performs on "Three Kings Swing," arranged by William Himes, "O Holy Night" (Adolphe Adam, arr. by Lee Harrelson), Mark Freeh's delightful arrangement of "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town," and "Silent Night" (Franz Gruber/Lee Harrelson). The audience is invited to join-in on "A Christmas Sing-along" and we close the program featuring Ryan Sharp again on "Auld Lang Syne."
A massed brass ensemble, known as "Brassmas," performs traditional holiday music on Lichtin Plaza, in front of the Duke Energy Center, beginning at 6:15 pm. Community brass players are welcome to join the Brassmas ensemble. Contact info@trianglebrass.org for details.
