Canes fans have reason to party

The NHL may have locked out players and canceled the preseason, but fans of the Carolina Hurricanes will still have reason to tailgate this Sunday. The annual Caniac Carnival, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. welcomes fans to PNC Arena for free fun, games and photographs.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The NHL may have locked out players and canceled the preseason, but fans of the Carolina Hurricanes will still have reason to tailgate this Sunday. The annual Caniac Carnival, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. welcomes fans to PNC Arena for free fun, games and photographs.

Spivey’s Corner and DJ George will provide live music and Stormy and the Storm Squad will be on hand.

Fans can play street hockey on the PNC Arena floor and pose for photos on the team bench and in the penalty box.

Beginning at 9 a.m., fans can sign up for the Crazy Caniac Challenge IV, which will consist of running a lap around the outside of PNC Arena, eating two hot dogs, drinking a 12-ounce Pepsi product and then completing a final lap. All competitors will receive a Crazy Caniac T-shirt and the grand prize winner will receive a pair of tickets for a 12-game plan during the 2012-13 season.
