On Friday, Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas and Kyle Cook visited the Nature Research Center at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences to perform a super-secret set from their new album, North.

The only people admitted were radio contest winners, but don't worry we chatted with the guys before their set to find out more about North. Somehow the conversation turned to Bojangles and Popeyes...

Some observations from our interview:

  • Rob Thomas doesn't seem to age. I photographed him about 10 years ago when I was in college and he still looks the same.
  • Kyle's hair defies gravity. It didn't move the entire time we saw him.
  • They were munching on wraps, veggies and more from The Daily Planet. Kyle offered me some broccoli.
  • Rob loves Popeye's red beans and rice.

Watch the video below to find out more about North and see their thoughts on Southern comfort food.
