Are you a fan of "The Amazing Race?" Do you ever wish you could run through the streets of downtown Raleigh competing in challenges for a cash prize?

Well, we have an event for you.

The "Most Amazing Race" is a scavenger hunt/race patterned after the reality show competition. Teams of two will compete in mental and physical challenges throughout downtown on Aug. 25. They will be visiting landmarks like Marbles Kids Museum and Krispy Kreme.

The team that finishes first wins the grand prize of $2,500. Second and third place teams will also receive prizes.

Proceeds will go to The Salvation Army of Wake County's Community Center, which which provides after-school care, athletic programs, and summer camps for at-risk children.

Sound like fun?

You still have time to register your team.

The top 30 fundraising teams as of midnight Sunday will be automatically entered into the race. Teams must have raised a minimum of $250. While it is short notice, there is still a good chance your team can make the race if they can raise the funds. There were only 12 teams registered to compete as of Thursday afternoon.

To register, go to the Most Amazing Race website.

The race starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Salvation Army's Community Center, 902 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.

WRAL's parent company Capitol Broadcasting Company is a sponsor of the Most Amazing Race.
