Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks cancel Greensboro concert

Posted August 1, 2012

The Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks concert scheduled for tonight at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex has been canceled, concert promoter Live Nation has announced.

Stewart came down with a sudden illness and canceled the show on the advice of his doctor, according to Live Nation.

Ticket refunds can be obtained at the original point of purchase starting Friday. Tickets bought over the phone or online will be automatically refunded.

The tour will resume Friday in Orlando.

This isn't the first time this year Stewart has had to cancel an appearance due to sudden illness. In April, he came down with the flu and had to bow out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony where he was scheduled to reunite with the Faces.

We were pulling out of our driveway when a friend called us to let us know she had heard about on the radio. Really bummed me out that this was canceled, I wanted to see her more than him. Almost got caught holding the cost of a hotel room, but, thankfully the hotel was understanding and let it go.

We drove to Greensboro and found out about 30 minutes later the concert was cancelled. I agree. I don't think he was sick. He just didn't sell enough tickets. I heard Lindsey Buckingham was in Wilmington.

He was not sick. He pulled a "I only sold 40% of tickets, I am not wasting my time" I have seen it before. Sudden illness at 5:30pm 2 hours before the concert...yea ok.

Rod getting sick = Slow ticket sales. Funny that he has already received a clean bill of health to perform Friday night in Orlando.

Sorry to hear they're under the weather. Rally and come back soon keeping the spirit strong.

Hmmmm, funny that Lindsey Buckingham is also in town. I wonder if Stevie will show up at his show tonight?

Glad my daughter works for a radio station in Greensboro. She found out after 3pm! Lots of people on the road probably didn't find out until they pulled up to the Coliseum. Poor communication on the promoter's part!
