Beer, bourbon and barbecue – what a combination!

It's time for the annual Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary.  It is described on the Koka Booth website as a day of "beer sippin’, bourbon tastin’, music listenin’, cigar smokin’ and barbeque eatin'," which sounds pretty accurate.

Admission gets you an all-you-care-to-taste sampling glass for the 60 beers and 40 bourbons on tap. As the title suggests, there will also be barbecue vendors on site, in addition to seminars, a cigar tent and live rock, blues and bluegrass music.

You can also compete in the Best Beer Belly Competition and the $500 BBQ Babe Contest.

Friday's VIP Whole Hog Session is sold out, but you can still get tickets to Saturday's events.

  • For $45 in advance, you get VIP admission at noon (two hours before regular ticket holders), a souvenir tasting glass and unlimited beer and bourbon sampling.
  • For $35 in advance or $45 on-site, you get admission at 2 p.m., a souvenir tasting glass and unlimited beer and bourbon sampling.
  • Designated driver tickets are $25 in advance or on-site. This gets you admission to the event only.

Note: The event isn't designed for children. While they are welcome, there isn't going to be much for them to do out there, according to event organizers.

Look for photos from this event on Out & About this weekend!
