Canes Summer Fun Fest

On Friday evening, head over to the PNC Arena for some hockey. Yes, we said “hockey” in the middle of July. The fifth annual Canes Summer Fun Fest offers family fun, including inflatables, hockey games and giveaways. Parking and admission are free to this event. There will also be guest speakers, the Storm Squad and Stormy. The fun runs 5:30-10 p.m.

Carolina Railhawks

 

Carolina Railhawks Pig Pickin’ Festival

The Carolina Railhawaks are holding a pregame Pig Picking’ Festival on Saturday before their game against the defending NASL Champion Minnesota Stars. Expect live music, beer and barbecue. Don’t forget to cast your vote for the best barbecue as local chefs and fans will also be competing for the Railhawks Master Chef Crown. Festival admission is $10 and does not include a ticket to the game. The festival starts at 4:45 p.m. and the game is at 7 p.m.

Glen Campbell’s “Goodbye Tour” will stop at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Saturday night. The “Rhinestone Cowboy” will be playing songs from his more than 50-year career. Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last year. He is being joined on stage by his two sons, Cal and Shannon, and his daughter, Ashley. Tickets start at $39.50.

KISS and Motley Crue

In a bill sure to delight rock fans out there, Motley Crue and Kiss will rock the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek on Sunday night. Kiss will be playing their greatest hits and songs from their latest album, “Sonic Boom.” As for Motley Crue, the band recently started teasing their new single, “Sex,” on their website. Tickets start at $30.

 

The Dark Knight Rises

One of the most anticipated movies of the summer starts Friday – The Dark Knight Rises. Christian Bale will reprise his role as Batman. The film picks up eight years after the last film, and follows Batman as he deals with being a wanted vigilante. He will battle villains including Catwoman (played by Anne Hathaway) and Bane (played by Tom Hardy.)
