Before the days of Scotty McCreery, Chapel Hill's Anoop Desai competed on "American Idol."
Anoop competed on Season 8, notable for being Paula Abdul's last season as a judge on the show and the season that launched the career of Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and others.
While he didn't win the show, Anoop did agree to do a lot of fun stuff at WRAL with us. He trained with us for a performance at the N.C. State Fair. He even showed us some of his dance moves.
Anoop now lives in Atlanta and is pursuing a career as a singer and songwriter. He has two shows coming up this week in North Carolina - Thursday night at the Blind Tiger in Greensboro and Saturday at Local 506 in Chapel Hill.
To find out more about what Anoop has been up, check my interview with him.
