Celebrate Bastille Day at Lafayette Village Saturday
Lafayette Village in Raleigh is hosting a Bastille Day French Festival on Saturday.

In France, July 14 is known as Bastille Day, the beginning of a revolution that freed the citizens from a tyrannical government.
From noon to 10 p.m., French-inspired music will fill Lafayette Village. The center's shops and restaurants will also have French-themed promotions, food and drinks.
Simply Crepes will be offering cheese platters, savory crepettes, boeuf bourguignon, chicken cordon bleu, flambe banana foster crepes and Nutella crepes with bananas or strawberries.
There will also be a Tour de Lafayette bike ride.
It might not be Louvre, but Lafayette Village will be showcasing local children's French masterpieces. Acrobats and games will also be happening all afternoon.
And at 7 p.m., there will be a French Ball.
A rundown of the day's events:
- 12:30-3 p.m. Allan Mele on the violin
- 1-4 p.m. Musique Accordeon French band
- 1-4 p.m. Stilt Acrobat performance
- 1-3 p.m. Children’s activities and crafts
- 2-5 p.m. Face painting
- 4:30-6 p.m. Justin Johnson French Gypsy music
- 6 p.m. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall speaks
- 6:15 p.m. General Lafayette provides a reading
- 7-10 p.m. Ed Stephenson French Band provide music for the French Ball/Dance
