Who has the best Reuben in Cary? You decide

Posted July 6, 2012

The Hibernian in Cary and Dorry's Downtown Deli are facing off in a month-long battle to find out has the best Reuben in town, and you get to be the judge!

Voters must try a Reuben at both places before voting. Just get the on-duty manager to sign your ballot. Once you have both signatures on the ballot, cast your ballot at either restaurant. The contest ends July 31 with the winner announced Aug. 1 at a yet to be determined location.

A percentage of Reuben sales will be donated to St. Baldrick's.

A Reuben is typically a corned beef sandwich on rye bread, with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian or Thousand Island dressing.

The Hibernian says its Reuben is the restaurant's No. 2 best-seller. They offer a turkey alternative known as "The Rachel."

Dorry's offers you the chance to substitute turkey in place of corned beef on its Deluxe Reuben.

May the best Reuben win!

Corned Beef on a roll is NOT a Ruben. Will try Dorrys today for lunch.

nope, not gonna be suckered into this because no reuben is on a cold white roll and no reuben has turkey and no turkey comes red. A reuben is grilled rye slices, with the cheese all melty, dripping with thousand island dressing so the tastes of the peppery, the savory, the sweet and the sour play against the buttery crispy/grilled rye bread. In my book the only reuben is a great reuben. I'm too old to tire myself with wanna be reubens.

    Neither.

The best Reuben Sandwich is at the North Raleigh Pub in Raleigh.
