Festival for the Eno kicks off Wednesday

The Festival for the Eno starts on July 4, then continues this weekend.

The 2012 Festival for the Eno kicks off tomorrow, July 4, at the Eno River State Park and will resume on Saturday and Sunday, for the annual three-day live music, food, and fun festival that benefits the Eno River Association.

This year's festival will feature more than 90 performers on four stages including: The Gibson Brothers, Craver, Watson, Hicks & Newberry, Gospel Jubilators, Birds and Arrows, Kickin Grass, Jon Shain Trio, Ellis, Orquesta GarDel, Paper Hand Puppet Intervention, Jamie Anderson & the Broad St Band , the Black Experience , Nikki Meets the Hibachi, Big Medicine, Robin & Linda Williams & their Fine Group, Lightnin' Wells, TROSA Musical Ensemble, and many others.

Aside from live music, attendees can enjoy various traditional and international food vendors, a sustainable home and garden expo, 95 regional crafts, children's activities, including storytellers and rain barrel painting.

Ticket Info: Children 12 and under are admitted free. Advanced tickets are available through July 3 (online and in stores) for $15 single day / $37 for a 3-day pass. At the gate, prices go up to $18 per day / $45 for a 3-day pass. Teen tickets (age 13 through 17) are only $10 (in advance or at gate). Credit cards are NOT accepted at the gate, but are in advance. Single day tickets are good for any one day. A list of advance ticket locations can be found on the festival's website.
Play by the Rules: No alcohol is allowed at the Festival for the Eno, or in any of the Durham City Parks. Coolers are allowed at the festival, but may be checked for alcohol. No camping is allowed at the festival.
Parking & Location: The Festival for the Eno is located at West Point on the Eno City Park on 5101 N. Roxboro Road in Durham. The festival offers convenient, free parking at Durham County Stadium on Duke Street, about one mile north of I-85. The address of the Durham County Stadium is 2700 North Duke St. Festival parking at Durham County Stadium includes a free, air-conditioned shuttle bus to the gate. Leaving your car at Riverview Shopping Center across the street from West Point subjects you to towing.

The Eno River Association raises money to buy land for parks, protect drinking water and provide habitat for creatures of all kinds and is committed to the preservation of the nature, culture, and history of the Eno River basin.
