Beach season is upon us, and we asked the folks in the newsroom to share with us their own beach-related Five Faves! WRAL anchor David Crabtree gave us his Five Favorite Beaches.

Tom Normanly Twitter

Wrightsville Beach - Wrightsville is close by…two hours! Excellent restaurants…a community of people who live there year round….great beach…feels like home. Jerry’s is a great place for dinner.

Nags Head - Being on the outer edges of a continent is wonderful…prefer the Outer Banks in the winter…the Atlantic in all her majesty under a winter sky is powerful.

Emerald Isle - Wonderful beach…nice places to stay…excellent community of people who travel there.

Ocracoke Island - perhaps the best of all…if there was one place I could move to and live…right now…it would be Ocracoke. Great history, magnificent places to stay, pristine beaches, great sailing and some of the most unique North Carolinians in the state. With a high school graduating class of maybe 3 or 4 students and with people who came and never left, this is island living like none other. If you go, DO NOT miss Howard’s Pub.

Outer Banks

Sunset Beach - Because of the uniqueness of the set-back from the water, the dunes of Sunset are like none other. While I miss the old bridge, I also understood the need for a new one. I think Sunset Beach is a diamond of NC beaches.

Look for more of our Five Faves Beach picks this week!

Are you headed to the beach for July 4?

U should try Oak Island nc

Topsail Island is by far the best beach in NC. It is truly the best kept secret in NC.

Howards Pub is yummy...Best burgers....It takes time to get there but it is so worth it.

gee David, i thought sure Topsail Island would hit somewhere. going to Topsail is like going back in time to Paradise. best kept beach secret in NC! oops, sorry Zander (the mayor of Surf City likes to keep it that way.

A really good selection, though I have to admit I've never been to Sunset Beach.

Good choices, David.

Absolutely agree. Sunset Beach is the Diamond. My family has vacationed there for more than 30 years. I, too, miss the old bridge but it is nice to not have to "time" leaving or coming to the island.
