Thirty-six million Americans don’t know where their next meal is coming from, according to the Inter-faith Food Shuttle. The even scarier truth is that is happening right here in our community. In the Triangle area alone, one in five children under the age of 18 years old is hungry. In addition, the state is ranked in the top 10 for food hardship.

But there is something you can do to help.

Triangle and Cary Town centers are hosting the Feast Not Famine Food Drive through Aug. 18 and there are more that an a few ways you can get involved and join in the fight against hunger.

You can donate non-perishable food items to the mall office at Cary Town Center or to customer service at Triangle Town Center anytime through Aug. 18. While you are there, you can also purchase an “End Hunger” bracelet or make a cash donation. If you can’t get over to Cary Towne Center or Triangle Town Center, you can donate at your local Food Lion Store from July 8-28. All donations will benefit the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

For more information about hunger in our community and ways can you help, check out the Inter-faith Food Shuttle website.
