Beach season is upon us, and we asked the folks in the newsroom to share with us their own beach-related Five Faves! Five on Your Side's Monica Laliberte gave us her Five Favorite Beach restaurants:

Freddie's (Kure Beach) - Family owned Italian – Barb’s salad dressing and sauce are to die for! So is the bread.. and the chicken parmesan and the mushroom ravioli.. and the peach/pecan pork chops.. you get the idea.

traveler

Surfhouse (Carolina Beach) -  GREAT sandwiches – my FAVORITE tuna salad anywhere! Can’t go wrong with ANY of the offerings!

Jack Mackarals (Kure Beach) - BIG portions; great, interesting salads! Fresh seafood!

Carolina Beach

Havana's (Carolina Beach)Pretty atmosphere – love the shrimp cobb salad AND free entertainment: you watch the town fireworks from the outdoor patio!

Deck House (Carolina Beach)In an converted old church, very cool. Good seafood.

Bonus pick: Britts Donuts (Carolina Beach) - One kind—glazed. Buy a dozen, you will eat them ALL!

Look for more of our Five Faves Beach picks throughout June!

Are you headed to the beach this weekend?

Are any of you people from North Carolina? Have any of you lived east of I-95? This is a silly , almost insulting piece. If I go to Philadelphia and I want the best Philly cheese-steak sandwich, I ain't asking some newshound from Lord knows where, I'm asking a local. Ask me about good coastal restaurants and I'll tell you about good eats from Duck to Ocean Isle; you folks pick places across the street from each other.

You must Try. Ida's Thai at Carolina Beach. It is atiny little place with oustandingly food. Very good.

What about Riverside Steak and Seafood in Swansboro..... Beats you all.

To those of you who are jumping on Monica's and every else choices - back off. The places listed are their favorites on when they go to the beach they go to. Just as you have your favorites at different places - so do they.

Wrightsville...Oceanic-day or night. Morehead City..Capt. Bill's- if they have deodorized recently.

BRITTS DONUTS! OHHH EMMM GEEEEEEE

Captain Bills, Atlantic Beach

What about Sam and Omie's in Nags Head?... they're pretty good. We're never disappointed when we go there. Good size portions for your money and amazing taste. Best I've had in the Nags Head area, we go there every year!

Kill Devil Grille (Kill Devil Hills), Howard's Pub (Okracoke), Orange Blossom Bakery (Buxton). No love for OBX, Monica???

The Provision Company in South Port. Grilled Chicken Salad and anything else is great. Right on the water and floating docks. Nice area to walk it off afterward with a board walk pier and ice cream shop right outside the door.
