Out & About's weekend planner

Posted May 18, 2012

The weekend is finally here! We are excited to check out the fun happening throughout the Triangle. Here are a few events on our radar:

Got to be NC

The Got to Be NC Festival is a three-day agricultural celebration at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Admission is free. Don't miss the Food and Wine Expo ($2 a ticket to get in), petting zoo, tractor parades and more. Check out our preview for this year's highlights.

Training, expertise required for fireworks shows

May the force be with the Durham Bulls tonight when they take on the Pawtucket Red Sox. It is "Star Wars" night at the ballpark, which means the Bulls will be wearing special jerseys. Also, keep an eye out for Darth Vader because we heard he might drop by. And stick around after the game for fireworks.

Artsplosure May, 17 2008

Raleigh's annual arts festival, Artsplosure, will take over Moore Square and City Plaza this weekend. Some highlights include a life-size chess board and the sand sculptures built on site. There is even a Kidsplosure event featuring activities just for children. Check out our preview for more info.

The 30th annual Hillsborough Hog Day is Friday and Saturday in River Park in downtown Hillsborough. There will be fresh barbecue, music, children’s games, pony rides, classic cars on display, a beer garden and arts and crafts. It all kicks off tonight at 6 p.m.. The fun continues Saturday at 9 a.m. Admission is free.
