'Riverdance' says goodbye during U.S. tour

Remember when Irish dancer Michael Flatley and his fast-footed dance moves were all the rage? In the 1990s, everyone became fascinated with Flatley and the whole "Riverdance" phenomenon.  

While Flatley went on to star in the dance production "Lord of the Dance," Riverdance embarked on its own tours, taking the world by storm. 

Now, the dance is coming to an end.

Riverdance premiered in the U.S. at Radio City Music Hall in New York in March 1996.

“We never thought for one minute that our show would still be running 15 years later,” producer Moya Doherty said in a press release. “Three years ago, we embarked on our farewell tour, saying good-bye to every city in North America we have ever played in over the years, and next June 17 in our 16th year this current production of Riverdance will end and we will say our final goodbye."

While the U.S. tour is closing, Riverdance productions will continue to tour the world.
