It's that time of year again - the start of the farmers' market season. The Raleigh Downtown market kicks off its season on Wednesday with a North Carolina Pig Pickin'!
The Pit will be serving pulled pork barbecue sandwiches for $5, and Southern food guru Bob Garner will be talking about and preparing local collards for sampling. His recipe is currently being enjoyed at The Pit.
Big Head Dog will provide live music.
And expect giveaways, raffles and new vendors, including Ray Family Farms of Bunn, which raises Belted Galloway beef, and In Good Heart Farm of Clayton, which offers vegetables, strawberries and flowers.
For the children, there will be gardening activities and face painting.
The Raleigh Downtown Farmers' Market runs every Wednesday through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in City Plaza.
Check Out & About tomorrow afternoon to see photos of Wednesday's Pig Pickin'!
