Best Easter Candy

We have all been there. Waking up on Easter morning and rushing out of bed to find the basket that mysterious bunny left for us.

I, personally, wasn't a huge fan of the Easter Bunny. How does he get into the house? And how does this giant bunny get this candy? Does he shop at Target? My poor parents had to field some tough questions from me!

One thing I loved, and still do, is the candy! So, we at Out & About decided to select our Five Fave Easter candies:

Peeps

Peeps - These colored marshmallow shaped bunnies define Easter. They are so popular that they have even been made into different colors and shapes for other holidays- (Snowmen for Christmas, ghosts for Halloween and frogs for....hmmm not sure what those frogs are for!) They are oh so cute, but even better to eat.

Cadbury Creme Eggs

Cadbury Eggs - The contents of these chocolate-covered eggs are sometimes a mystery. The cream and sugar interior is made to look like a real egg's yolk, which does freak some people out. But they also come in caramel and chocolate. These items made our list because they are also an Easter staple, even prompting imitators like Milky Way and Snickers, which have each made similar eggs filled with their contents.

Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Eggs - They might be the exact same thing as a traditional Peanut Butter Cup, but I can't resist buying these things whenever I see them around Easter. Maybe it is because they are shaped like eggs, or just my obsession with peanut butter. They are always a favorite.

Robin's Eggs

Whopper Mini Robin's Eggs - Whoppers covered in colorful pastel colors = malted milk heaven.

Russell Stover Strawberry Cream Egg

Russell Stover Eggs - Filled with vanilla, marshmallow, maple creme, strawberry or raspberry, these creme eggs are a delight each year.

Honorable mentions:

Sweetarts Chicks, Ducks and Bunnies

Easter Sweet Tarts -  They are shaped like chicks, ducks and bunnies this time of year. Cute, but not too cute to eat.

Chocolate bunnies

Chocolate bunny - There are too many brands making these bunnies for us to narrow it down to just one. But getting a chocolate shaped into a bunny is almost expected on Easter.

Starburst jelly beans

Jelly beans - Starburst, Lifesaver, Nerds – everyone is making a jelly bean now. So pick your favorite and enjoy!

We can't possibly name every type of Easter candy out there. Tell us your favorites in the comments section below!

Chocolates only. I'd have to agree that the Russell Stover creme filled chocolate eggs are my favorite. Happy Easter!

REESES IS THE BEST!!! Always my favorite!!! And of course jelly beans........except the black ones! Never ate the black ones! Yuck!

I made Easter baskets for my kids til they were married...lol... My husband still gets one...lol... I love the whole Easter Candy thing. One of the things I want to add, is the whole " Bunny" thing has NOTHING to do with the Spiritual side of Easter. I am a devoted Christian and we celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior..Then ham and chocolate abound...:)

Reese's Eggs are the second best reason for Easter...

Also... it's not 'a bunny shaped like chocolate' but 'chocolate shaped like a bunny'.

Dove Truffle eggs are the best!!

Gotta go with the Reese eggs...but not peeps...gross.

Peeps are disgusting! The Cadbury Egg is my favorite. Running a close second would be a Russell Stover's Raspberry Whipped Cream Egg...yum!

Reese's Eggs are the best! Actually all of the Reese's holiday shapes are great! It's just something about them, maybe the ratio of chocolate to peanut butter is different or something. Following in a close second and third are the Cadbury Caramel Eggs and the Cadbury Chocolate Eggs.

Peeps are gross to eat, but they are so much fun to play with in the microwave!

I agree with opinionated - the eggs have more peanut butter in them, which makes them amazing.

Cadbury eggs are too sweet for me, but my partner loves the caramel ones.

Robin's Eggs are definitely an addiction for me. Mmmmm.

One correction to awomnsptofview - actually, the bunny is indeed a symbol of the original Easter, called Ostara, named for the goddess Eostre. It is a festival honoring spring and fertility, for which the rabbit is a definite icon! =) We're happy to share our holidays with Christians, but please don't ignore the actual history of the name "Easter" and the origins of the holiday. =)
