Hopscotch Music Fest announces first band in 2012 lineup

Metal pioneers Sunn O))) was announced Tuesday as the first act on Hopscotch Music Festival’s 2012 lineup.
The band’s show on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Memorial Auditorium will be its first announced North American tour date since September 2010.
Formed nearly 15 years ago, Sun O))) is known for combining the elements of black metal, drone and ambient genres. They play through a sea of amplifiers and smoke, making the listener focus on the shifts in the music, according to the Hopscotch website.
They are also snappy dressers – donning Grimm Robes for each performance.
The full Hopscotch lineup will be released April 18. Hopscotch Music Fest is Sept. 6-8.
