More people are turning going gluten-free, whether they are allergic to it or not. If you or someone you know is gluten-free, Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen in Cary is offering a special cooking class this Saturday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Chef Jay Pierce will demonstrate five recipes – sweet potato hushpuppies, ham cream sauce, creamy grits, tasso gravy, shrimp and grits and Scuppernong wine jelly – that are made without the grain protein gluten.

Guests will also get souvenir recipe cards and be entered for door prizes, which include a one night stay at Proximity Hotel, Lucky 32 gift vouchers and recipe boxes.

Come hungry, because here is the three course lunch menu to be served during the demonstration:

  • Islamorada or Old Fashioned Nectar Soda
  • Sweet Potato Hushpuppies with Country Ham Cream Sauce
  • Shrimp & Grits paired with Martin Codax Albarino, Rias Baixas, Spain ’09
  • Mawmaw Millie’s Scuppernong Wine Jelly Cocktail

Pierce will also discuss where to find ingredients and answer questions.

It is $39 per person and that includes tax and gratuity.

To make reservations, call Lucky 32 at 919-233-1632.
