"American Idol" winner and Garner native Scotty McCreery will be performing at halftime of the annual Hoops 4 Hope women's basketball game at North Carolina State University's Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, Feb. 12.

The annual event was designed to bring awareness and hope in the fight against breast cancer. It was started by late N.C. State coach Kay Yow.

This year, N.C. State hosts ACC rival Wake Forest. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the game starts at 5 p.m. It will be televised on ESPN2.

During halftime, Scotty will sing a special tribute to the breast cancer survivors in attendance. Survivors who are attending should register through the Hoops 4 Hope website to participate.
General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for those 17 and under. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Tickets can be purchased through GoPack.com or the ticket office at 1-800-310-PACK (7225).
N.C. State student tickets will be free but are limited, and must be requested online.

This week, Scotty told WRAL News that he had applied to four colleges, including N.C. State.
