Triangle restaurants support Meatless Mondays

Several Triangle restaurants have joined the Meatless Monday initiative, which encourages people to eat healthier and avoid meat once a week. To help support the international movement, more than 20 local restaurants are offering a meatless, vegan dish on Mondays.

Several Triangle restaurants have joined the Meatless Monday initiative, which encourages people to eat healthier and avoid meat once a week. To help support the international movement, more than 20 local restaurants are offering a meatless, vegan dish on Mondays. 

It is free to join the Triangle Meatless Monday challenge. People who pledge their support online will receive a starter kit with recipes and health tips.

Solas in Raleigh recently announced its participation in the initiative through its vegan/vegetarian menu, which includes sweet coconut curry vegetables, stuffed poblano peppers and vegetable lasagna. The menu is offered daily, but highlighted on Mondays. 

Other restaurants participating in Triangle Meatless Monday: 


Raleigh
Bali Hai - Mongolian cuisine: spices, vegetables and tofu mixed & made to your liking (note: noodles contain egg).
The Mecca - portobello sandwich
Remedy Diner - Mock chicken with buffalo sauce, Philly cheese steak, tempeh reubens.
Spring Rolls - Traditional dishes made with seitan instead of meat. They also have an extensive vegetarian menu.
Moe's Southwest Grill - Burritos with tofu instead of meat.

Durham

Bali Hai - Mongolian cuisine: spices, vegetables and tofu mixed & made to your liking (note: noodles contain egg).
Beyu Caffe - Chocolate mousse, vegan chocolate cake, curry dish.
Broad Street Cafe - Pizza, hummous/portabello wraps.
Dame's Chicken & Waffles - Vegan waffle available. Vegan chicken pending. 
Moe's Southwest Grill - Burritos with tofu instead of meat. Ask for the whole wheat tortilla for an even healthier choice.
Smash Hit Dogs - Vegan chili dogs
1013 Bread N' Kabob - Buffet with vegan items. Also, grilled veggie platters & sandwiches.
Triangle Raw Foodists - Cucumber-dill gazpacho, sweet corn soup, "Cheezy" broccoli, coconut pesto salad, spicy lemonade salad, Indian carrot pate', tu-not salad, spicy Thai basil noodles, red pepper and mushroom "risotto", spinach quiche.
Saladelia Cafe - Andean Black Bean Salad, Baba Ghanouj, Basil Rotini Pasta,Falafel Pita,Fattoush,Gazpacho, Lentil with Spinach Soup, Mediterranean Eggplant, Mediterranean Vegan Platter, Organic Oatmeal, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Tabbouleh
Mad Hatter Cafe & Bakeshop - Every Monday, the featured specials will be vegan - an entree, soup and salad. The item will rotate each week but an example is: Vegan Enchilada, Beet & Almond Salad, and Lentil & Spinach Soup.
Bull Street Durham - Vegan options include at least one daily soup, at least one salad on the regular menu, a seasonal sandwich, as well as some weekly features and prepared dinners in conjunction with TMM.

Café Currleaves - Indian vegetarian dishes.
Worth It Cafe - Veggie burger, hoppin' john, and rotating vegan specials.

Chapel Hill

The Pig - Country Fried Tofu, Sweet PLT (sweet potatoes sliced thin & smoked), fried shiitake Po-Boy, mashed potatoes with veggie gravy.
Margaret's Cantina - Tempeh barbecue pita, tempeh fajitas, burritos/tacos/enchiladas (with beans, tofu, or tempeh), vegetarian pozole, and black bean chili, and vegan dessert specials.
Queen of Sheba - Yetimatim (Tomato Salad), Yemisir Azefah (Lentil Salad), Yedinich (Potato Salad), Kik Alich’a (Yellow Split Peas), & Yemisir Kay Watt (Red Lentil)
