Cheap lunch alert: Players Retreat

While trying to track down the best homemade chips recently, the Out & About crew stopped by Player's Retreat. In addition to their tasty chips (with homemade blue cheese), they also had great lunch deals!

While trying to track down the best homemade chips recently, the Out & About crew stopped by Players Retreat. In addition to their tasty chips (with homemade blue cheese), they also had great lunch deals!

They offer 11 items under $6 for lunch Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. I opted for a grilled cheese sandwich on wheat ($4.50), which came with a pickle and side item. I got the chips. My bill was less than $5 before the tip. (Note: I always get water because I'd rather eat my calories than drink them at lunch.)

Other items that come in under $6: plain hot dog ($2.50), Philly Dog with mustard, chili, bacon & Swiss ($3.75), a 4 oz. hamburger ($5.25) – cheese will set you back a dollar more – cup of soup ($3.75 for chili or soup of the day, $4 for their Brunswick stew), spinach salad ($4.95) and garden salad ($3.50).

So, cheap lunch alert indeed.
